In free flight, takeoffs are spectacular and the panoramic views amazing. Laragne-Chabre hosts many international competitions and has been selected for the World Hang Gliding Championships in 2009.

The North wind makes "formation" take-offs possible most of the time and glider buffs consider the area as one of the best European spots, with sites like Vaumeilh and La Motte du Caire. N.B. : at La Motte du Caire airfield, a winch is used to eliminate noise pollution during takeoffs.
And if you prefer to conquer the skies "with an engine ", why not go for a flight in an Ultra Light ULM?
